IELTS

Introduction to IELTS:

IELTS, or the International English Language Testing System, is a globally recognized test that assesses the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers. The test is designed to measure a candidate’s ability to use the English language in academic and professional contexts, and is accepted by universities, employers, and immigration authorities around the world.

IELTS Exam Format:
There are two types of IELTS: Academic and General Training. IELTS Academic can be taken in a test centre on paper or on computer, and can now also be taken online from home or another private location that has a stable internet connection. IELTS General Training can only be taken in a test centre on paper or on computer.

For Academic and General Training you take the same Listening and Speaking tests but different Reading and Writing tests. Make sure you prepare for the correct test type.

The Listening, Reading, and Writing sections of all IELTS tests are completed on the same day, with no breaks in between them.

The Speaking test, however, may be scheduled up to a week before or after the other tests. If you booked IELTS Online, your Speaking test will usually take place before your other tests. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

IELTS Exam Scoring:
The IELTS test is scored on a nine-band scale, with each band representing a level of English proficiency. The scores are based on the candidate’s performance in each section of the test, and the final score is an average of the four section scores. A score of 9 indicates an expert level of English, while a score of 1 indicates a beginner level of English.

Preparing for the IELTS Exam:
Preparing for the IELTS exam requires dedication, effort, and practice. There are various resources available to help candidates prepare for the test, including books, online courses, and practice tests. It is important for candidates to develop their language skills in all four sections of the test, and to become familiar with the test format and time limits.
